Great specials

So happy Spasso came to Cresskill!! Food was great. I had a chicken dish which was part of the specials. My husband had eggplant parm, he said it was the best he's had. The restaurant was busy and we had great service from the hostess who opened our wine immediately and was very friendly. This will be our go to place!!

Great Ambiance

A few friends and I had dinner at Spasso last night and it was great. Service was great-very attentive. We ordered Scallop sliders which were delicious! Definitely try them! BTW I've been to Bensi restaurants and cannot see the resemblance in the two menus. I haven't seen an Osso Bucco, Short Rib, Sliders, Roasted Chicken and several other apps on a Bensi menu so I don't see how the last reviewer could say that.

Also, order a side of meatballs with the rustice bread....YUM!

soo good

I went to Spasso's tonight with my family. WE LOVED IT. Our waitress was so friendly and the food came right away. Also the food tasted delicious! we liked it so much that we even booked a 50th birthday party there . Yes the prices are somewhat high but it was well worth it!

AMAZINGG!!!!

I went to Spasso Italian Bistro last night and was soo pleased with everything that was brought to our table. As soon as we sat our bottle of wine was opened right away followed by amazing specials that were told to us from our server. We started with the scallop sliders and a goat cheese salad. (sooo good it was crispy hot goat cheese)I had the Rissto which was cooked to perfection and my friend had the Seabass. (my mouth is watering just thinking about it) Last but certainly not least was our dessert we had the raspberry lava cake which was the icing on my dinner.. Our server was so delightful and had the answers to all of my questions which you dont get all the time. In short I guess I found my new hot spot!!
Cant wait to return!!!!!!!

Spasso's An immature restaurant

We went to Spasso having heard several good reviews from neighbors. We were seated in the back room with a party of many small children and it was apparent to us immediately that the noise was deafening. Our waiter approached and apologized for the noise. He brought us bread and asked if we would like olive oil or butter and then left. Neither were served. His next request was about appetizers. He took our order for appetizers and then left for a while. Of our order for 5 appetizers, 3 came, two were delayed. Our order for meals was finally taken. I ordered the special which was a chicken and sausage special. While we waited for our meals the music in the room grew louder. This was added to the raucous from the children. We asked for the music to be turned down and with apologies from the manager it was. After a time, the waiter returned to say that the special was no longer available. The children left. Multiple different radio stations were then played loudly over the speakers.

The food was good, fine for a local restaurant, but the prices are higher than they should be. There are wonderful restaurants with professional service in the area with prices that are comparable.

Our meal ended when the crowd of children left, others in the room wrapped up their meals as well. It was then obvious that the staff was smoking in the adjacent area behind a curtained service area.

Ever eat in a restaurant where you feel sorry for the waiter because he is so inexperienced and seems like he has been thrown into the shark tank? That was our waiter. Spasso needs to mature. Obviously people have had a good experience here, but ours was awful. Some thing as simple as someone spinning the dial on a radio made us miserable. Meals half served.
A party of two on a weekday night might be fine, but a party of 6 on a Saturday is more than this restaurant is ready for.

Simply Delicious

My girlfriends and I recently went to Spasso and we were so glad we did. We all had the the chopped and Arugula salad with goat cheese, which were delicious. I decided to order the beef short ribs, it was mouth-watering. I enjoyed every bite. My girlfriends were pleased with their meal as well( I think one ordered the cavatalli chicken and the other had a fish special) We were suprised to have licked our plates clean. The decor was beautiful and the staff friendly and very accomodating. We can't wait to visit again. This time we will be bringing a few extra bottles of wine. It was a great experience. The only thing is you definitely should make reservations.

Burger King

We have dined at Spasso Italian Bistro about ten to twelve times since it opening. Our experience is sometimes there is a wait to be seated and sometimes a wait to receive our meal, but it has always has been worth the wait. Their food has always been excellent and well priced. We laughed when we read about getting food faster, as I always think if I am in a hurry we should go to Burger King or be patient and get real food. Spasso remains to be an incredible restaurant in our opinion.

Spasso - A Disappointment!

Very disappointing! We were seated promptly for our 6:30 reservation for four on Feb. 13, and it was downhill from there. Our orders were taken, people arrived next to us - they were on their appetizers while we were still waiting for ours.
We decided on the special Valentine's Day Price fixed menu - don't bother. The appetizers were OK but the Rack of Lamb and Filet Mignon left much to be desired. Of course there were many apologies when we started to complain about the length of time it took to then get our main course, but there is no excuse. Others came and went and we finally left the restaurant at 9:15 without getting our roses either - talk about neglect! This was not leisurely dining by any means. It was noisy and the tables are close together. We are in no hurry to return!

You must be kidding!

This restaurant is a joke! We arrived at 7:30 PM on Feb 13 and our table was ready. But it was all downhill from there. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. We were a table of six and after we ordered and waited were told that three of the entrees (covering 4 of our 6) were out. Our meal was obviously delayed. My wife ordered a salad and it never arrived so we canceled it. It finally arrived and while the food was tasty it was just warm. The pasta in particular was tasteless. We asked for an extra wine glass and it was not available and never arrived. The owner who came over at the beginning never came back. There are many great BYOB's in the area such as Il Mulino (Dumont) and Luka's (Ridgefield Park) so I can assure you we will never eat at this place again.

dinner at Spasso

Took my wife out to dinner at an Italian Bistro that has been highly spoken about in town. My experience is that bistro as over priced with sub quality food. I was delighted that I was so wrong. We both tried different fish dishes that were both excellent. My wife had an orange trout and I had the sea bass. Both had flavor and cooked perfectly, while the prices were very reasonable. We had cheesecake for dessert which also was excellent. We were told it was homemade. We both had a great time at this bistro and hihjly recommend it to everyone.

A Gem in Cresskill

Spasso has been open just over a month and my wife and I have been there 6 times (not including taking out pizza). Each time has been wonderful, from the very friendly and attentive wait staff (ask for Phil), to the style, and of course the food which is simply amazing. This is a resturant that aims to please and they do not miss their mark. The chef is direct from Italy and each dish is classicly prepared and served with elegance. The quality of ingredients is second to none at any price, so the affordability of Spasso is remarkable. This is the resturant for which we have been waiting!

Return Performance Better

Decided to return for dinner again. Food was excellent the first time and even better this time. I passed on apps (only cause had late lunch) dumb move on my part. Tried a big cut pork chop that was amazing. The chop is the size of the plate and over two inches thick. Not only was the size amazing but the meat was very juicy. My wife had the sea bass which was excellent. This place is remarkable as the food is great and the prices are very reasonable. I will return every week next time without eating lunch to try everything.

Breathe of fresh air,definately a place to enjoy a night with friends family or on a date,we walked in on friday night and to my surprise we waited 25 minutes for a table, not my favorite thing to do, wait!! but I'm glad I did, the food was excellent, the staff seemed to be on top of what was needed to get done, my husband dropped his knife and seems before it hit the floor the manager had another knife on the table,both rooms were full but I think they had more than one manager working, when our entrees came out there were four different people bringing out our food and one had a pepper mill and cheese ready for us I had a ceasar salad "best croutons I've ever had and a pesto pizza my husband a veal caprese that was topped with crisp baby arugala grape tomatoes and shaved parmesean which was awesome, dessert was surprisingly even better because I was skeptical at first because the sound of a brick oven apple pizza pie seemed a little wierd but it wasyso cool it had homemadwhip cream and prfectly cooked apples on a pizza dough and sliced in 6 slices my only complaints are that I had to park across the street because the lot was full other than that it was a great night out in a manhattan type looking place in my own back yard with a lot of familiar faces from the area, I will definately be going back soon and yayyyyy finally a place that can deliver and carryout. Something other than pizza.

Spasso Italian Bistro - Worth the try

Went to this new restaurant, even though I hate going to new places. I had my daughter (age 9) who by the way is the worlds pickiest eater. Thought it was going to be a waste of time for her but was amazingly surprised. She order the chicken parm. Even though this is a simple dish she seldom eats more than two bites. To my surprise she ate 90% of her dish and said the sauce was very tasty. I had the grilled salmon that was very good. It was cooked perfectly and had much flavor. I cant wait to return and try their menu again, since their food must be awsome. If my daughter ate their food theirquality and cooking skills must be excellent. Let me mention the staff was very helpful and the restaurant looks very nice,

SPASSOOOOOOOO GOOD

I LOVE THIS PLACE! FROM TALKING TO THE OWNER WHO WAS SO ACOMIDATING TO MY FIANCE AND I, HE EXPLAINED ANY QUESTIONS WE HAD ABOUT THE MENU AND MADE US FEEL LIKE WE KNEW HIM FOR A LONG TIME, WE FELT LIKE FAMILY, I THINK THEYVE BEEN OPEN FOR 9 DAYS, AND WE'VE BEEN THERE 3 TIMES ALREADY. I TRUELY BELIEVE BERGEN COUNTY NEEDED A PLACE LIKE THIS, TRENDY, WARM AND AT THE SAME TIME A PLACE YOU CAN DINE OUT WITHOUT SPENDING A FORTUNE, BY THE WAY THE FOOD TASTED OUR CHECK SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALOT MORE THAN IT WAS, THEY HAVE ALOT OF CLASSIC DISHES YOU DONT SEE ON ITALIAN MENUS EVERYDAY, AND SPECIALS EVERYNIGHT,IT WAS REFRESHING TO SEE A PENNE PUTANESCA AND A OSSO BUCCO ON THE MENU MY FAVORITE!!!! THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY AND PROFESIONAL,AND LOOK PRETTY CUTE IN THEIR SUSPENDERS,ORIGIONAL, NOT YOUR TYPICAL TRATORIA IT HAS THAT BISTRO FEEL TO IT, BRAVO SPASSO!! I THINK YOU'LL BE AROUND FOR A LONG TIME
