This is neat bistro cafe on the revitalized and trendy Cookman Avenue is a lively scene with decent eclectic food and occasional jazz. Since Chef owner Marilyn Schlossbach left the restaurant to open up her new place, Langosta Lounge, on the Boardwalk in Asbury Park, the quality of the food here has taken a turn for the worse. The menu offers a good variety of Latin and Mediterranean servings with an Asian influence. The ingredients are fresh and usually there is at least one vegetarian dish on the menu. They also have a variety of International wine and beer, with a market that sells specialty food products and Kitchenware's. They have theme nights that feature different international dishes. The atmosphere is upbeat and bistro like and at times noisy. The service can be spotty and rushed, especially during the busy periods. For starters try the Lobster & Asparagus Stuffed Mushrooms with parmesan garlic cream; or the Brilliant Savarin with Balarina goat gouda and Chistou with granny smith apples and mango chutney. Popular entrees include their signature dish, the Oshin Tuna - Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna, pan seared and topped with teriyaki glaze, served over roasted garlic smashed potatoes with snow peas; and the Mandarin Orange Ginger Glazed Pork Loin over chive smashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Not recommended for children. |
