Restaurant Review

The Brothers Moon is a fine dining BYOB restaurant popular with diners who come to enjoy well prepared New American eclectic food with a variety healthy dishes using locally sourced, farm to table ingredients.

The restaurant is managed by Will Mooney, serving as a co-owner and Executive Chef. Mooney received his formal culinary training at the Culinary Institute of America, before honing his skills at The Hotel Pierre in NYC, The Frog and the Peach and Stage Left, in New Brunswick, NJ, Patina in Los Angeles, CA, and The Peacock Inn and Stockton Inn New Jersey.

Chef Mooney is a strong supporter of sustainable farming and in using locally sourced farm to table ingredients. The ingredients for his dishes are sourced from many healthy food providers including the NJDA Certified organic Chickadee Creek Farm, Griggstown Quail Farm, Orchard Farms, Cherry Grove farm.

His seasonally changing menu with daily specials is heavy on health-conscious dishes . It's a menu with a variety of quality meat and vegetarian dishes that both carnivores and herbivores can enjoy.

Often times, menu options may feature ingredients sourced from Certified Organic farms, though depending on the season and the daily menu. If your visit is to enjoy an organic option, it is advised to call the restaurant before reserving to ensure it will be available.

The Brothers Moon is an unpretentious fine-dining restaurant that is also a cafe, deli, takeout restaurant, and a catering facility.

The restaurant now occupies the building that once housed a small town general store. Their gourmet deli counter sits on the left side and is filled with fresh bread, cheeses, salads , sandwiches, desserts for take out. The dining area on the right side is charmingly done up with a variety of table arrangements spaced close together. They include both free standing seating and tables along the wall with bench seating. Tables are attractively set with white linen and fine china.

During warmer months there is outdoor, sidewalk patio dining.

The Brothers Moon is open for Lunch from 11:00am - 2:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
For Dinner 5:00 - 9:00pm, Tuesday through Thursday, 5:00-9:30pm Friday and Saturday, and 4:00-8:00pm on Sunday.
They serve Sunday Brunch from 10:00am - pm. They are closed on Mondays.

How Do We Review (analyze) Restaurants?

New Jersey Leisure Guide strives to provide analytic restaurant reviews .

The methodology used is research, analysis driven --- as opposed to that of a single restaurant critic or a viewer comment posting board.

Data is gathered from our viewers e-mail restaurant comments, Internet research, and professional restaurant critics. The data is sorted, (weeding out the obvious biased, "bone to pick",  and out of consensus comments), analyzed, and the review is created.
