New Jersey attractions are numerous and exciting and have appeal for people at any age and interest.

We have listed some of our favorite attractions and places to visit to help you plan a fun or educational activity for a day trip, weekend getaway, or a week long vacation to "get away from it all"?

New Jersey can boast that it has 127 miles of shore line, 1,400 trout streams, over 800 lakes and ponds, 40 state parks, 11 state forests, 5 recreation areas, 38 natural areas and 24 historic sites.

For places to visit, New Jersey cities and towns have a wide range of attractions:

There are the Urban centers like Hoboken, Jersey City, Atlantic City and Newark that have reinvented themselves.

There are the charming river towns like Lambertville and Frenchtown.

There are the downtown's of Freehold, Princeton, and Red Bank that have come of age.

There are the Jersey Shore towns of Ocean Grove, Spring Lake and Cape May that offer the visitor charming Victorian homes, activities, shopping, beaches and excellent restaurants.

Here are some suggestions for New Jersey attractions and places to visit for a day trip, a weekend getaway, or a week long vacation, that will give you the "unique" feel of New Jersey:

Amusement Parks are in all corners of the State. The Jersey Shore with it's boardwalk's and amusement piers provide an an ideal setting overlooking the ocean with the many food stand's that sell great hot dog's, Italian sandwiches, saltwater taffy, and ice cream.
Biking trips. New Jersey has great terrain and scenery and offers a wide variety of trails for a wonderful cycling adventure.
Canoeing in the Pine Barrens A million-acres chunk of arid pine forests, cedar swamps, and twisty little rivers right in the middle where you can paddle for two days and not see a single house.

Cape May County beaches in New Jersey are known for their wide, fine, powdery sand, and are considered to be amongst the best beaches on the Atlantic coast.
New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail is not really a trail, it is a route designed to be leisurely seen by auto for the benefit of the public to provide education, understanding, and enjoyment of natural, maritime, and cultural sites of the coastal area of New Jersey.
New Jersey fishing offers a wide variety of fishing experiences and fish species. From the spring migrations of striped bass on the Jersey shore, and the American shad in the Delaware River to the bay shores and the ocean along the Atlantic coastline, there's something for all anglers.
New Jersey Parks offer a diverse outdoor journey with hundreds of thousands of acres of state and national parks, forests and recreation areas where visitors can enjoy as a day trip or camping vacation.
Ocean City is a Jersey Shore beach resort that sets itself apart from other beachfront towns in going all out to insure that its reputation as “ America’s Greatest Family Resort” is true to its motto.
The Wildwoods are a jewel with their free, wide, white, powdery sandy beaches, and a world class boardwalk with amusement piers, restaurants, food stands and salt water taffy shops, are now attracting visitors with an interest in "Doo Wop".
