Restaurant Review

, mother's is one of the top Italian restaurants in Cape May, and a popular place for diners who enjoy well prepared, creative, Italian and sea food dishes in a warm, welcoming setting.

Godmother’s is owned and operated by Executive chef Chris Hubert (who also owns The Black Duck across the street in Cape May), received his formal culinary training  at The Culinary Institute of America. Chef Hubert  later honed his skills at some of Cape may's top restaurants, including the Union Park and The Ebbitt Room,

This is not a traditional red sauce Italian restaurant,  though they do offer a good selection traditional red sauce items , their menu also includes some non-traditional, inspirational Italian and seafood dishes.

Chef Hubert is committed to using fresh, local farm to table produce and locally caught seafood.

Many of the pastas and desserts are homemade.

The interior is attractive with an upscale yet casual ambiance. Tables are set with white linen.

However, many of the tables are placed close together, and quiet conversation can be difficult during peak times.

Service is well trained, very friendly, knowledgeable, and are year-round local residents.

Godmother's is family/child friendly

They offer an attractively priced early bird special menu from 5 - 5:30pm each evening.

Godmothers has seasonal hours.  During the summer they are open beginning at 5pm everyday except Tuesday

Depending on seasonal availability, they are also able to accommodate private events for up to 30 people in their dining room. Luncheons can be accommodated for up to 50 people

How Do We Review (analyze) Restaurants?

New Jersey Leisure Guide strives to provide analytic restaurant reviews .

The methodology used is research, analysis driven --- as opposed to that of a single restaurant critic or a viewer comment posting board.

Data is gathered from our viewers e-mail restaurant comments, Internet research, and professional restaurant critics. The data is sorted, (weeding out the obvious biased, "bone to pick",  and out of consensus comments), analyzed, and the review is created.
