New Jersey Leisure guide is the largest single source of complete and impartial NJ restaurant reviews. Unlike other sources that review restaurants on the basis of a single visit by a restaurant critic, or on the basis of restaurant diners, our restaurant ratings and reviews take into account a wider audience and are the result of a compilation of many sources, including restaurant critics and diners who have eaten there. DeAnna's Restaurant is a popular favorite with the locals offering reasonably priced homemade pasta dishes with fresh, local ingredients. The decor is eclectic and cozy with a Greenwich Village vibe. It's an excellent place for a date or getting together with family or friends. The interior of this 30 seat restaurant gives off a warm abiance with soothing soft candlelight lighting, terra cotta-colored walls, and black and white photographs adorning the walls. The featured attraction is a cozy, three-sided bar, with a giant peacock hanging above it and cozy red lamps at the corner. It's tended to by Armand, the restaurant's friendly and efficient bartender. Chef/proprietor Dianna Paterra oversees the preparation of simply prepared dishes using locally grown organic greens and produce whenever possible. The pasta is made daily from semolina and durham flour. While there are some bright spots to the menu, there are many shortcomings that prevent the food from achieving a higher rating. The positives include the garlic bread served with a basket of crusty whole wheat Italian bread from an Italian Bakery in Trenton. The special eggplant appetizer prepared with pork tenderloin, fresh tomatoes and gorgonzola porcini is very tasty. While the pastas are homemade, the sauce comes off a bit bland and does not distinguish itself. The ricotta cheese cake isn't cheesecake but rather a moist yellow cake with a creamy ricotta cheese filling. Locals night on Tuesdays and Wednesdays are a popular attraction offering an attractively priced 3 course prixe fixe menu. Deannas Restaurant service is friendly and courteous. During the warmer summer months they offer al fresco dining with one of the seating areas covered with a canvas canopy, and the other dining area further back offers open air seating scathered amongst a water fountain and a few herb garden plantings. On site parking is available. |
