Restaurant Review

This Freehold BYOB steakhouse serves up very good steak and beef selections, but be prepared to pay New York prices at a Central New Jersey restaurant.

The restaurant is located in a storefront setting with an attractive decor made up with a soft earth toned canopied ceiling, Roman columns, and walls adorned with large paintings and shelved glass art works. The tables, without linens, are spaced nicely apart over ceramic tile flooring. On busy weekend evenings, it tends to be noisy.

The service is friendly, very attentive, although their demeanor is a little rough around the edges, Brooklyn style. Don't be surprised to find as many as three waiters at a time hovering over your table.

The quality of the beef served varies from good to excellent, and repeated visits to this eatery have demonstrated an inconsistency in the preparation.

The recommended appetizers are; The Fried Calamari Steaks served with chipotle aioli; and the very pricey Shrimp Cocktail served with cocktail sauce and natural lemon.

The recommended entrees are; if your budget can afford it, the very pricey signature selection, Hand cut Porterhouse Steak with bearnaise and demi Deville sauces; The Organic Rack of Lamb with whipped potato's, mint, and red currant demi glaze; and the Chilean Sea Bass, herb crusted and truffle scented served over sauteed baby spinach.

Their luncheon menu is more reasonably priced and they offer a good selection of soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches.

Parking is available across the street in the public parking lot. If you come early, parking is also available a few hundred yards around the corner from the the building in the public parking lot.
