The Origin of Mother's Day |
The origin of Mother's Day in the United States began in 1907 when Ana Jarvis initiated a movement to create a national Mother's Day. She began this process by enlisting the support of clergymen, businessmen, and politicians in establishing a national Mother's Day.
This movement found it's way to the White house and President Woodrow Wilson, in 1914, made Mother's Day official by proclaiming Mother's Day as a national holiday that is to be celebrated each year on the 2nd Sunday of May.
