If you love strawberries avoid the supermarkets --- where strawberries are sold before they fully ripen --- and head out to a strawberry picking farm in New Jersey.
New Jersey’s pick-your-own strawberry farms offer a unique blend of charm, freshness, and tradition that sets them apart from similar experiences elsewhere.
Known as the “Garden State,” New Jersey boasts rich soil and a temperate climate that produces exceptionally sweet and flavorful strawberries. Unfortunately, due to local weather and disease conditions, there are a few certified organic strawberry farms in New Jersey.
The short but abundant strawberry season—usually late May through mid-June—makes picking your own berries feel like a fleeting and cherished annual event.
Strawberry picking begins in Mid-May in Southern NJ and runs into late June and depending on weather conditions can sometimes last until early July in Northern NJ.
Beyond the berries themselves, these farms often include additional attractions such as farm stands, homemade baked goods, and kids activities including petting zoos, hayrides, turning a simple outing into a full-day countryside adventure.
The combination of quality produce, scenic settings, and nostalgic atmosphere makes New Jersey’s pick-your-own strawberry farms a truly special family activity.
Note: Weather and growing conditions sometimes require cancellations or changes of dates, times and location which are not reflected in the original schedule.
Always call ahead before planning a trip to visit one of the listed farms. to confirm current strawberry picking conditions and times, reservations, and fees. Some farms require an advance reservation and/or charge a strawberry patch entrance fee.
