This year Memorial day will be celebrated on Monday, May 29, 2023
It is a time for parades, flags, and wreath-laying ceremonies paying tribute the who died serving our country.
Memorial Day is also the unofficial beginning of summer in New Jersey with the Jersey Shore beach communities coming alive with activities.
Many of these activities include music festivals, ethnic festivals, fireworks, auto racing events and special events geared to the kick off of summer.

Avalon Memorial Day Parade

The parade will step off at 32nd Street and Dune Drive and proceed north to Veterans Plaza where the ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the parade.
Cape May Memorial Day Ceremony

The City of Cape May, in conjunction with the American Legion Post 193 and VFW Post 386, will conduct a Memorial Day Ceremony to honor our fallen heroes. The Remembrance will take place at Soldiers and Sailors Park, located at Gurney Street and Columbia Avenue in Cape May. Immediately following the ceremony in the park, at approximately Noon, the United States Coast Guard Training Center Cape May detachments will participate with Flotilla 82 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in presenting the Rifle Salute and launching of the flower boat from Gurney Street Beach.

Celebrate Memorial day with firetrucks, and high school marching bands! Complete with a 21-gun salute and flag-raising.
Parade begins 11 am, at Memorial Middle school on Mill Street and ends at Main Street.
Somers Point Memorial Day Parade

The parade will begin at Dawes Avenue and Shore Road and proceed to City Hall, concluding with a ceremony at Patriots Park at Bethel Road and First Street.
Stone Harbor Memorial Day Parade

The parade will step off at 96th Street, leading to a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Women's Civic Club on 96th Street and the beach. After the ceremony, there will be an Open House hosted by the Stephen C. Ludlam American Legion Post 331 on 117th Street and Second Avenue. All are invited to attend and enjoy a guided tour of the building and museums, along with free refreshments.

A Renaissance Faire is a unique and magical phenomenon with this event featuring the English Renaissance version. There are six formal stages of entertainment with shows for the young and young-in-spirit, but truth be told, the entire Village of Crossford is a stage – and the show begins upon entering the castle gates! If you thought you would just sit through some droll rendition of a 16th century tale at the New Jersey Renaissance Faire, you are mistaken! Colorful characters, charming artists and playful scenes are all center stage during this year's all-outdoor Faire. Walk through the gates and discover what many of us already know – the live interaction at this Faire is part of the fun! Outdoor improvisational theatre surrounds you throughout the magical shire of Crossford. There are dozens of scheduled shows, as well many that 'pop up' right before your eyes on the village paths. Be prepared to burst into laughter and gaze in awe during your stay at our shire!

Peter Pan and the Pirates includes actors from the Riddlesbrood Touring Theatre Company along with many children of all ages from the community. In between shows will be the Suzanne Cloud Jazz Trio performing many songs from the Broadway show Peter Pan. In addition there will be The Fairy by the Well, a magical fairy tale that follows the story of a whimsical fairy and her wondrous adventures, an immersive and delightful experience.
The historic Towne of Smithville will be bustling with activity during the festival. Its 60 charming specialty shops, the award-winning historic Smithville Inn restaurant, the Smithville Train and The Smithville Carousel, two timeless attractions that evoke romance, adventure and playful fun, will also be open and running both days for children and adults to ride and share an unforgettable experience.
