This year Memorial day will be celebrated on Monday, May 31, 2021

It is a time for parades, flags, and wreath-laying ceremonies paying tribute the who died serving our country.

Memorial Day is also the unofficial beginning of summer in New Jersey with the Jersey Shore beach communities coming alive with activities.

Many of these activities include music festivals, ethnic festivals, fireworks, auto racing events and special events geared to the kick off of summer.

Vineland Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

The Parade will begin at 9:00 am at the corner of Landis Avenue and Myrtle Streets, proceed west on Landis Avenue to the Boulevard, and then north to the Landis Park Veterans Circle.

Wildwoods International Kite Festival

Festivities begin with a Friday night social via the local kite club and the 9:00pm illuminated night kite fly. Saturday includes the silent and loud auctions (open to all) and Saturday and Sunday include the flying of large inflatable kites, sport kite demo's, team flying, as well as family games. Monday features the World Indoor Kite exhibition inside the Wildwoods Convention Center.

This annual event that brings together athletes and families for a day of competition and comradery—but also to honor those who have served and support the heroes still in the fight.
There are two challenge events:
The main Obstacle Course Challenge:
Utilizing actual Navy SEAL-inspired obstacles and the challenge of soft-sand running on a two-mile stretch of shoreline, the Obstacle Course is a test of physical and mental toughness
Kids Fun Run
This event is specially designed to let children be a part of the day's fun in support of heroes and their families. The course—which goes from 8th Street to 5th Street and back—features a variety of safe obstacles that allow kids as young as 5 to experience the excitement and reward of taking part in the event.
Proceeds from this event provides financial support to military families through our official partnership with 31Heroes, and creates a better awareness of the incredible sacrifice military families endure to ensure our freedom.

Rock Star. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee. Six-time Grammy Winner. Fine Artist, and Philanthropist. These are just a few ways to describe Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. The iconic drummer will be making two live, in-person meet-the-artist appearances. All artwork will be on exhibition and available for acquisition. The exhibition as well as the Chad Smith appearances are complimentary and open to the public, however a minimum purchase is required to spend individual time with the Artist.

Memorial Day Ceremony Aboard the Battleship New Jersey

The Battleship will remember our military men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice with a memorial service, conducted with the Bishop Eustace Knights of Columbus. The ceremony, which will take place on the forecastle (forward deck) and is free to attend, will include a live performance of TAPS and the casting of a memorial wreath into the Delaware River.
