Restaurant Review

There are two wonderful reasons to dine at Ama Ristorante at the Driftwood Club in Seabright:
1) To take in the sunset views over the Shrewsbury River

2) Savor the food from noted Executive Chef Chef Pat Trama who comes with an impressive resume of having honed his culinary skills with famed restaurants and award winning chefs.

Located on the second level of the Driftwood club, the dining room seats 120 guests has chandeliers, dark wood ceilings and floors, rustic decorations, and exposed beamed ceilings that are complemented by the many bay windows letting in the waterfront views. Seating is on comfortable leather padded chairs and tables set with white linen tableclothes.

Come for a before diner cocktail and enjoy the large, full-service bar with four flat screen TVs.

Chef Trama is a native New Yorker and grew up in family of restaurateurs. He had had an illustrious career honing his culinary and restaurant management skills at the River Café, Brooklyn, under the tutelage of Charlie Palmer, a James Beard award-winning chef, From the River Cafe,Chef Trama moved on to many noted restaurants including the Montrachet (NYC), the Tribeca Grill ( New York City ), Sapore di Mare ( East Hampton ), Le Madri ( NYC), Coco Pazzo ( NYC &Chicago) Della Femina ( East Hampton ), F. Illi Ponte (NYC) and David Burke Fromagerie in Rumson. He was previously chef/owner at Ama Ristorante Tuscana in Atlantic Highlands, which he closed in May 2012 and reopened in larger quarters in Sea Bright in September 2012

Chef Trama sets out a traditional Italian menu with inspiring, creative interpretations. He is committed to including the freshest and highest quality ingredients, whether local or global. Often times, there are organic selections available on the menu.

The bread serving is noteworthy --- Brooklyn stlye served warm with a firm tasty crust.

The restaurant team is very solid and includes the Stavola family, owners of both Ama Ristorante and the Driftwood Cabana Club and General Manager Laura Borawski.

Arrive before the sun sets, ask for a table overlooking the Shrewsbury River and take in a view the sunset, or the next best alternative, ask for a table overlooking the pool and the ocean.

Ama Ristorante is kid friendly, has complementary valet service and live music on Thursday nights. There are no corkage fees on Sundays.

It's an excellent place to go to celebrate special occasions, a romantic dining experience, or an evening out with friends.

For private parties, they offer a private dining room with views of the ocean. It is completely separated from the main restaurant and you are closed off by a wooden barn door. The room accommodates from 16 up to 62 people.
