Restaurant Review

The Island Grill restaurant is  popular with diners who enjoy contemporary, inspired seasonal cuisine using fresh local ingredients from sustainable sources.

A family owned business run by owner Carol Herfoth, her husband Michael, and their three daughters, who have teamed up with Executive Chef Joshua Day to create a successful restaurant that offers healthy Atlantic Coastal cuisine in a casual, relaxed setting.

Chef Day is a graduate of the Texas Culinary Academy, who later honed his culinary skills in New York City, including such note able restaurants as Le Cirque, Marea, and Casa Mono.

The Island Grill serves a limited, yet well prepared, seasonally changing menu. Dishes are creatively prepared using locally sourced fresh farm to table produce, wild caught sustainable seafood, and organic meats.

Upon entering, you are likely to be greeted by owner Carol Herfoth who is very gracious and welcoming, setting the tone for a relaxed and well served dining experience.

The wait staff is friendly and attentive.

The dining area, either indoors or on the enclosed porch, is attractive with a fresh, vibrant ambiance

The Island Grill is located behind the Washington Street shopping area between the parking lot and Collier's liquor store.. Free on site parking is available.

The Island Grill is closed during the winter. Open from the end of April to mid-October

How Do We Review (analyze) Restaurants?

New Jersey Leisure Guide strives to provide objective restaurant reviews .

The methodology used is research, analysis driven --- as opposed to that of a single restaurant critic or a viewer comment posting board.

Data is gathered from our viewers e-mail restaurant comments, Internet research, and professional restaurant critics. The data is sorted, (weeding out the obvious biased, "bone to pick",  and out of consensus comments), analyzed, and the review is created.
