While the food is good, you don't come here for the food unless you arrive very early before the DJ shows up. This is a high energy, modern New York Style club scene with ---- Japanese food. The DJ is on Tuesdays to Saturdays and begins after 7:30 PM, with live jazz every Sunday. Once the music starts, the crowds descend and it becomes a club scene with all the noise and music. The 20-30ish crowd arrives later and stays until the bar closes at 1 AM. The recommended dishes are; The Hudson, with crunchy chicken tempura, avocado, cucumber, tobiko and asparagus, and kabayaki sauce; The Optimistic roll, with tuna, salmon, avocado, tobiko and tempura flakes, bound up in soy wrap; The Jockey Hollow roll with deep-fried salmon, tobiko and kabayaki sauce and peach; or the Ceviche seafood, marinated in citrus juice and spices with a Latin influence. Save room for desserts, they have a wide variety with the following recommendations; The chocolate truffle tart topped with bruléed bananas and spiced whipped cream; The Banana tempura; Tapioca pudding; or The Mango cobbler with cinnamon crumb topping. The service doesn't live up to the quality of the food and can be inconsistent. The lounge has a table turnover policy on parties of two being a maximum of 90 minutes, all other sized parties a maximum of 1:45 hours. |
