Atlantic City Columbus Day Weekend Comedy Festival

Attendees will experience hilarious, side-splitting humor from some of the nations most noted, critically acclaimed comedians. The all-star line-up features over ten nationally known comics, with comedy royalty.
Sunday night’s line-up will feature Mike Epps (ShaquilleO'Neal Presents: All Star Comedy Jam - Live from Las Vegas), Rickey Smiley (Rickey Smiley Morning Show), Earthquake (WBLS Radio host of Quakes House) and Tony Rock (BET’s Apollo Live).

The 11th annual South Jersey Pumpkin Show

The event’s theme for 2014 is “Enjoy all things Pumpkin” and the festival will showcase a giant pumpkin pyramid, Big Pumpkin Weigh-Off, pumpkin wine sampling, pumpkin foods, dessert contest, pumpkin themed pageant, pumpkin contests and so much more. Thousands of families from many states show up year after year in support of the South Jersey Pumpkin Show. The 2014 show will feature the reading of Sleepy Hollow legend and the arrival of the Headless Horsemen on Friday & Saturday evenings. The giant pumpkin pyramid will be showcased as the center piece of the festival and kids under ten will enjoy a free, friendly boo barn, pumpkins, craft making and free pumpkins.

Ocean County Columbus Day Parade & Italian Street Festival

Celebrating the Annual Columbus Day Parade and Italian Heritage Festival. A fun filled weekend of food, friends, and Italian Culture. This years' special attraction is "Lo Zampognaro.Lagaro" a folkloric group of singers and dancers from the northern town of Pomarolo, Trento. Pomarolo, Trento is a small town in the region of Trentino Alto Adige, Italy. This will be the musical groups first U.S. appearance. The Parade will be held on Sunday at 1 pm, on the Boulevard from J Street to Sampson Avenue.

5th Annual Sussex County Harvest, Honey & Garlic Festival

This family Festival features a celebration of agritourism, ecotourism, arts & heritage. The County of Sussex, the Sussex County Beekeepers Association and the Garden State Garlic Growers are joining with the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show to showcase New Jersey's great northwest. The event includes a farmers market with Jersey Fresh products like fruit, veggies, flowers and wine, educational displays, materials and an array of garlic honey products, garlic. In addition there will be displays and info from organizations highlighting northern New Jersey's open spaces and history --- and of course it would not a family event without activities geared for children.

Question: Fall Weekend Getaway for a Family. We are a family with young kids and are planning a weekend October overnight trip somewhere in NJ to experience the best of fall. What can you suggest?
Answer: In New Jersey, fall colors tend to peak around Columbus Day Weekend and with the weather still pleasant, this is the best time to get out and enjoy the fall. To experience fall with all it's beautiful colors, rolling hills and mountains, I would suggest an overnight trip to either Hunterdon County, Warren County or Sussex County. Always popular with kids is pumpkin picking. Halloween events (some not so scary) are also very popular. For more active families with kids who enjoy getting out in the woods, there are a number of easy hiking trails in each of the three counties,
