2024 St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations: The Best New Jersey Parades and Events

March is the time for the Irish Americans to plan and celebrate St. Patrick's Day with all it's festivities, parades, entertainment, and of course some green beer and Corn Beef and Cabbage.

And for others, (mostly Irish wannabes for the day) they will join in with their Irish friends for a trip to the local Irish pub for some Irish beer and entertainment.

This year St. Patricks Day falls on Sunday, March 17, 2024

One of the myths that has perpetuated is that "Corned Beef and Cabbage" is a typical Irish meal. Before the Irish came to America, corned beef was not a staple of the Irish diet in Ireland. You would have to go to the Jewish deli's in Ireland to find Corned Beef. When the Irish came to America they found corned beef much more affordable and soon began to substitute Corned Beef for Bacon and other meat staples along with Cabbage.

St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland is known for bringing Christianity to Ireland. Others have recognized him for ridding Ireland of snakes. This may be mostly myth as snakes was probably symbolic of putting an end to pagan practices. Today, St. Patrick's Day has come to be a day when everything and everyone Irish have come to celebrate all that is Irish --- with an added twist on some American adopted tradition's.

This is a true St. Paddy's Day celebration that attracts tourists from multiple states from Philadelphia to New York.
The festivities begin in the morning where thousands of people will start to drink and bar crawl. With all of Hoboken's best bars in on the action they are eagerly awaiting your arrival with spectacular food and or drink specials. Hoboken LepreCon Day is simply a day you cannot miss. If you are not normally a day drinker this event may change your mind. One thing that makes this event so special is that everyone will be dressed up with St Paddy's apparel such as Shamrock shirts and glasses and may even be dressed up as leprechauns.
All the bars will be fully staffed and packed with friendly pub crawlers all bar hopping on LepreCon Day. There will be Djs at select venues to keep the party going all day! We all know how much energy some of the best Djs can bring to the party. They will be playing music that will keep the party jumping!

The Parade begins in Union with the Marching units gathering at Morris Avenue and along Commerce and Jeanette Avenues, the parade route proceeds east along Morris Avenue to a turn at the Main Reviewing Stand and ends at Roosevelt Avenue. The Midway Reviewing Stand is at Morris and Caldwell Avenues. The event will feature bagpipers, dancers, grand floats and non-stop music.
Join in at the Union Center on Stuyvesant Ave for delicious festival foods, kids rides, activities and vendors. Bring your chairs to enjoy the parade.

The FSSP Irish Festival Weekend starts with a Friday night Kickoff Party featuring a DJ and The Nerds. The DJ will be spinning Irish and rock tunes to start the night off before the Nerds take the stage at 8pm. Admission includes beer provided by Readington Brewery, water, soda and entrance into the event. Food trucks will be available.
On sunday, March 10th, The Annual Friendly Sons St. Patrick's Day Parade will kick-off at 3pm. Six pipe bands, forty marching units striding down Main Street in Clinton.
The AfterParty starts at 4pm with The Amish Outlaws taking the stage at 8pm. Beverages and Food trucks will be available.
