I am looking for a beach recreational park eg. Sandy Hook where they have the bbq's already at the beach park? can you tell me which beaches? and if there is a cost involved? I believe I have to bring my own charcoal?
Thanks, Ketty Reply: Hi Ketty Here are the beaches in NJ that permit BBQing. I suggest calling in advance to get a confirmation of the BBQ permissions.
Sandy Hook Beach (732) 872-5970 The North Beach Observation Deck has tables and a view of New York Harbor. Grilling is permitted only at Guardian Park in Fort Hancock.
Ocean Grove 732 988-5533 Charcoal grilling is permitted after 6 p.m. Open fires are prohibited.
Windward Beach, Brick Twp BBQing but is only permitted by reserving a table. The BBQ must be a charcoal grill. To reserve a table, call 732-262-1073.
Island Beach State Park Seaside Park, NJ (732) 793-0506 Although tables and grills are not available in the park, visitors may enjoy picnicking on the ocean beach. Grills may be used on the beach south of the designated bathing area. Fires must be at least 50 feet east of the dunes
Cape May Point State Park Cape May Point (609) 884-2159 Has picnic tables and shelters with BBQ grills available near the beach, the Lighthouse, and the Bird Sanctuary. Reservations are suggested on busy weekends. Regards, Frank Dalotto
