Recommended For: Diners who enjoy excellent high end, simply prepared Italian food in a small cozy setting.
Not Recommended For: Diners who prefer Italian food served in large portions with heavy sauces in a more family oriented casual setting.
Recommended dishes: When available,The Pesce di Oggi line-caught and seasonally inspired fish; The Petite Lamb Osso Buco; and The Wild Boar Ragout with roasted cremini, pappardelle.
The Dining Room at Anthony David's is a fine dining experience and one of the best Italian restaurants in Italian rich Hoboken.
This restaurant has an unusual set up in serving as a gourmet market by day and a top draw fine dining restaurant by evening.
The entrance to the dining area takes you past the deli and refrigerated cheese case and into an area with pressed tin ceilings, barrels of coffee beans, and glass jars of olives. It's a small place with just 34 seats in two rooms with a cozy, casual atmosphere. |
There is an open kitchen where you can watch the food being prepared while you wait to be seated.
The dining "Room" is decor has a mirrored candlelit space with pillowed banquettes with an open kitchen set off in a corner. The other room offers an L shaped communal table with simple, bare decor. While privacy is limited, it's the less noisy of the two rooms.
Chef/owner Anthony Pino is a graduate of the top rated culinary Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island and honed his culinary skills at the Park Avalon NYC and in creating dishes for the famed Balducci’s. He is a two-time guest Chef at the famed James Beard House. Anthony also owns Bin 14, Hoboken’s only wine bar.
Depending on availability, Chef Pino is committed to using fresh local ingredients. The menu changes frequently with changes of seasons and availability of of fresh ingredients.
Service is unpretentious, friendly and attentive
This is a very popular place on weekends and on Friday and Saturday nights they do not take reservations, though reservations are accepted Tuesday through Thursday & Sunday.
The Dining Room serves an excellent ala carte brunch with a traditional selection of brunch favorites --- seven days/week.
During the warmer months there is outdoor seating at table with umbrellas.
Parking is difficult. Suggest parking at the garages on 11th Street and 14th Street. Coming from NYC, take the PATH or a train and take a short taxi ride from the station.
