This seafood grill with a "South Beach" feel, is located on the waterfront in the Newport neighborhood of Jersey City. The waterfront view of lower Manhattan is spectacular. The interior is also pleasantly contemporary, with a glass enclosed waterfall, a large bar, and comfortable seating surrounded by stainless steel, glass, stone softened with polished wood and creamy fabrics. The menu's focus is creative seafood with an Asian-American infusion of flavorful spices prepared on a wood grill. Popular favorites include crab cakes, seafood linguini, lobster mashed potatoes,and spice flavored mahi-mahi, swordfish, tuna mignon and jumbo shrimp, and meat dishes like steak and rack of lamb. The service is attentive and friendly, although during weekend evenings with crowds it tends to fall off, along with the increase in noise level. The South City Grill is popular at night with the 21+ crowd who crowd around the bar for and the dance floor ..... all adding up to an elegant and vibrant club-restaurant atmosphere. In the summer there is outdoor dining. There is free indoor valet parking, and it's conveniently located about 1000 feet from the Pavonia PATH station. |
