This very popular Southern Italian bistro is the best restaurant in Jackson. They are located in an attractive stand alone building that invites you to enter into the lobby area where seating and deli cases are filled with gourmet italian food products and fresh baked desserts. There are two dining rooms and the decor in the main dining room is pleasant and soft, with earth toned walls and burgundy drapes, soft lighting and candlelit tables. The real reason you come to Solo Bella is the fresh home style prepared southern Italian food. They serve up gargantuan portions of food with the freshest ingredients, seafood, meats, and pastas. The menu caters to Italian family traditions and if you are 1st or 2nd generation Italian you will enjoy the Sunday special where for $18/person, everyone at the table eats and shares the same antipasti, salad, pastas, entrees and desserts and coffee preparations from what "Mama Cooks". You will leave with "doggie bags" of food! Each night there is also a daily special with unbeatable prices and portions. Some of the popular favorites include; Sea food Fra Diavlo, Penne & Broccoli with either shrimp or chicken, Linguine with clams, Shrimp Oregenata, strip steaks, Lasagna, spaghetti, and veal parmigiano, and a variety of broccoli rabe, sausage, and fried calamari combinations. They also serve up outstanding brick oven pizza. The service tends to be a little spotty, and the acoustics are not good and when the restaurant is crowded --- it tends to be a little loud, especially if seated near a large group. Come early! They don't accept reservations for small parties and there can be a long wait on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.Family and child friendly. |
