Restaurant Review

Situated in rural western New Jersey's scenic Delaware valley, The Ship Inn has the distinction of being the first brew pub in New Jersey to brew beer since prohibition.

The reason to come to this brew pub is for a bit of history, and their seven barrel craft beer brewing system! It's also a good place for a low-key casual place to meet with friends for some craft beers and casual food. There are no televisions which makes it an ideal place to have a quiet drink alone or to meet up with friends for good conversation.

The Ship Inn is also a popular place to stop for a quick bite and a beer on a day trip to the scenic Hunterdon County Delaware River region.

The setting is in a Victorian styled home with an the interior decor that has dark timber tones, brick walls, tin ceilings with a nautical theme.

The fixtures include a piano, leather seats, old wooden tables, plaid wall-to-wall carpet, and a small-medium sized bar in the back.

Their menu has a British influence with a few offerings of gluten free and vegetarian dishes.

They are open Sunday to Thursday, noon-9 pm; Friday and Saturday, noon-9:30 pm; The bar stays open as long as there's a crowd.

The Ship Inn does not have on-site parking, however, parking can easily be found by turning in to the narrow road next to the building onto a a back mountain road. The municipal lot off Bridge Street also offers free two-hour parking.
