Getting to Atlantic City From Newark Airport

by Sharon
(u.k)

Hi,
We are traveling from the UK to Newark Airport. What is the best way to get to Atlantic City? We will also be staying at the Sheraton Hotel in New Jersey for Thanksgiving. Do you have a parade in New Jersey?

Thanks, Sharon

Frank's Reply:

Hi Sharon,

You may be aware of this, public transportation in the USA is not as convenient and inexpensive as the U.K.

While it is possible to take public bus transportation from Newark airport to Atlantic City, getting to and from the bus terminals are not very convenient and the schedules of departures are infrequent.

Your best options are private auto transportation. By auto, Atlantic City is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Newark Airport.

Here are some of the private transportation options:

1) Rental car. This is convenient and gives you the most freedom and flexibility in getting around and visiting nearby attractions while in Atlantic City. Cost is approximately $400 for the week with pick up and return at Newark airport. The Sheraton Hotel offers on-site parking for $14 per day. Sometimes the hotel has special packages that include free parking. The added benefit is that you will have your own auto for your private use throughout the week. Just remember to drive on the right side of the road.

2) Hire a private limo (taxi). The cost is approximately $300 - $350 each one way (tip included) and includes airport terminal pick up and drop off at the hotel. You can check for rates and service providers at www.limos.com

Except for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, Thanksgiving is not a big day for parades in the United States. There is no parade in Atlantic City on Thanksgiving.

I want to welcome you to the United States and hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday in Atlantic City

Frank

Wildwood Bars and Restaurants for over 40's

by linda
(new city ny)

Hi

I'm planning to stay in Wildwood Crest next week Saturday August 13 to Tuesday the 16th.

I'm a single female over 40. looking for a nice older crowd. Anything upscale?

Where can I go for dinner and then move to the bar after for drinks?
How about just for drinks?
What are some good restaurants?
Thanks for the info,
Linda

Franks's Reply
Hi Linda

Wildwood is noted for being a great family destination with a 50's doo wop atmosphere with many bars that cater to the younger crowd. Most of the restaurants are casual, family, low budget eateries with very few upscale bars and restaurants for a 40+ plus crowd.
Here are my suggestions:

Upscale Wildwood restaurants where you can have dinner and drinks at the bar:
Jersey Girl Bar and Restaurant>
Beach Creek Oyster Bar & Grill

or you can drive across the bridge to Cape May a charming more upscale beach destination with many upscale restaurants:
Congress Hotel
Blue Pig Tavern for dinner then head for the Brown Room bar in the lobby or to the Boiler Room night club in the basement
The Ebbitt Room

Upscale Bars just for drinks
Any of the above

Best Wildwood Restaurants
Jersey Girl Bar and Restaurant
Beach Creek Oyster Bar & Grill
Marie Nicoles

Drive across the bridge to Cape May with many upscale restaurants:
410 Bank St.
The Black Duck
The Ebbitt Room
Peter Shields

Enjoy yor stay

Do they have Dolphin Watch Cruises in Wildwood, NJ

We will be vacationing in Wildwood. Do they have a dolphin watch cruise?

Hi;
Wildwood is a great place to see Dolphins and they have many Dolphin watch cruises. Just go down to the Marina in Wildwood and Wildwood Crest and there are plenty of boats to take you out.

Also, if you are lucky, you may see some dolphins from the beach.

Enjoy your trip,

I am thinking of going to Wildwood, NJ
Looking for Best Place to Stay

by Gladys
(Providence, Rhode Island)

I am planning to go to WildWood, NJ and want to stay at a nice place. I am looking for the best place to stay, I am used to staying at Marriots, but I know their are no big hotels there. What do you suggest?

Hi Gladys:

Wildwood is not known for having elegant hotels, it's a family resort with an excellent beach, boardwalk, and many fine 50's Doo Wop motels.

Having said that, here are two of the top of the line hotels in Wildwood;
Port Royal Hotel

Pan American Hotel
However, if you are not set on Wildwood, and are willing to venture 10 minutes to nearby Cape May, a charming Victorian styled beach resort, I would recommend the historic Congress Hall Hotel.

Have a wonderful summer

I am thinking about going to Wild wood Crest, NJ for a week?

by Ledia

This summer I am thinking about going to Wildwood Crest, NJ. Do you know of any cheap one bed, with a pool. Must be on first floor or elevator.

Hi Ledia;

I would recommend the Regal Plaza, the Jolly Roger, or the Bristol Plaza.... They are all excellent motels, offer good value, and have either an elevator or 1st floor rooms.

Regards,
Frank

Best Way to Get to Atlantic City From NYC
Without Driving?

by Terese
(New York City)

Hi,

I live in NYC and I'm planning a trip to AC in a few weeks. I already booked Harrah's Resort.
My question is, what's the best way to get there? I'd like to take a bus but Greyhound doesn't go to Harrah's. I can't seem to find any busses that go directly to that specific casino.
Is it normal to just take a cab from the bus station or what?
Also, am I better off just trying another hotel?
Thanks for your help with this.
Reply:

Hi Terese:
The most convenient way to get to Atlantic City from NYC without driving is taking a train from Penn Station to Atlantic. The free Jitney min-bus shuttle is available to/from the train station in AC to all the hotels.

Harrah's Hotel and Casino, as well as many other casino's, offer a AC NY Train package.
The Harrah's AC NY train package includes:

* One (1) night hotel accommodation at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City
* Two (2) round-trip train tickets from NYC (Penn Station) to AC, a direct route!

You can book your package at Harrah's calling 877- 326-7428, select Harrah's Resort Atlantic City . Be sure to mention the AC NY Train Package when calling!

Will Two mile landing and the Crab House Restaurant Re-open?

When will Two Mile Landing and Crab House be open again?
Hi;
They are no plans to rebuild the Two Mile Landing or the Crab House restaurants in Wildwood Crest, and it is unlikely that will be ever rebuilt in the same way or in the same location.
