Reopened in September, 2007 and rebuilt in it's entirety, this longtime luxury Chinese restaurant has resumed it's operation with the same excellence in food preparation and presentation it was previously known for. It's the best Chinese food in the Monmouth-Ocean County region! The decor is contemporary with a large main floor dining area and balcony. The main floor dining is a very attractive contemporary setting, adorned with cut glass, stone and tile, which accounts for the poor acoustics. It is not the place to go for quiet intimate dining, unless you are get seated up stairs on the balcony overlooking the main dining area. The balcony's decor is rather plain, although far less noisy. The atmosphere is upbeat with plenty of energy and noise. The Kuo family offers many dishes of fusion Chinese with fresh gourmet ingredients, although reasonably priced for the quality of the food, the prices are high by Chinese restaurant standards. Popular starters include the Golden coins; the Filet Mignon egg roll; and the Pavilion Barbecued Baby back ribs. The popular entrees include the Chung King Beef with medallions of tenderloin sauteed with fresh mushrooms served over a bed of spinach; Peking Three Delicacies with sautee of chicken, beef, and shrimp on a sizzling skillet; the Peking Duck, slowly roasted Long Island Duck finished to a crispy, juicy perfection and served with finely sliced scallions, cucumbers. steamed crepes and homemade plum sauce; and the Peking Imperial, their most expensive item on the menu at $38.95, with Maine lobster and filet mignon. Save room for desserts, they are outstanding, try their Banana Flambe. This is a very popular place and on peak nights be prepared for a long wait. While waiting for your table, you can settle up to the bar for a cocktail. The bar is attractive and contemporary. Service is attentive, efficient, and friendly. Peking Pavilion does not accept reservations for parties smaller than six.
