This storefront BYOB in downtown Bordentown, was opened under new owners and Matthew McElmoyl, the chef, and his wife, Danielle in June 2006 and has since become a popular spot for diners in the area looking for a fine dining, casual yet elegant, experience with excellent food, and charm, at a reasonable price. It's a bright spot in an area of very mediocre restaurants. The menu is international and builds on basic French cooking techniques with a fusion of spices and flavors from many of the worlds food styles to create a well prepared and creative menu. When available, for starters try the popular Truffle Mushroom Bruschetta with extended boursin crouton, baby arugula, and a balsamic reduction. When available, for the dinner entree try the New Zealand rack of lamb with a mound of goat cheese mashed potatoes, with garnish of broccolini, and port wine reduction; or the Pesto Shrimp truffle white polenta with sauteed arugula and sun dried tomato cream. Save room for desserts, they are made in-house by Pastry Chef James Berry. When available try the Chocolate Chip Cheesecake, with a chocolate chip crust and a creamy cheesecake filling. Oliver a Bistro is very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Reservations are suggested. They are closed Sunday and Monday. |
