The Old Homestead in the Borgata Hotel is popular with high rollers who are looking for the highest grade of beef in a big time atmosphere. The meal portions, the dining room ambiance, and the prices are all equally big time.
This is the best steak house on the Jersey Shore.
The decor is a warm contemporary atmosphere with soft lighting and earth tones --- not the traditional steakhouse with dark wood and clubby ambiance found in many other high end steakhouses.
Seating on the upper deck dining area provides a view down on the main dining area and a little more privacy. If you plan to dine with a group of 10-12, book the Chef's table. It's a glass-walled room in the kitchen with curtains you can open or close for privacy.
The Old Homestead is legendary for its USDA Prime, Texas-size slabs of beef and for their trademarked domestically raised, hand-massaged Kobe beef. The quality of their USDA Prime beef is of a higher quality than most other high end steak houses that serve USDA Choice.
Note: USDA Prime is the superior grade with exceptional tenderness, juiciness, flavor and fine texture. It has the highest degree of fat marbling and is derived from younger beef. That's why Prime is generally featured at the most exclusive upscale steakhouse restaurants.
USDA Choice is the second highest graded beef. It has less fat marbling than Prime. Generally USDA Choice will be less tender, juicy and flavorful with a slightly more coarse texture than Prime
The service is professional and attentive with old school charm.
Difficult to get reservations at peak times, reserve well in advance
The Old Homestead is open six days/week. Monday - Thursday: 5:30pm - 10:30pm; Friday: 5:30pm - 11pm; and Saturday: 5pm - 12am

New Jersey Leisure Guide strives to provide objective restaurant reviews .
The methodology used is research, analysis driven --- as opposed to that of a single restaurant critic or a viewer comment posting board.
Data is gathered from our viewers e-mail restaurant comments, Internet research, and professional restaurant critics. The data is sorted, (weeding out the obvious biased, "bone to pick", and out of consensus comments), analyzed, and the review is created.
