If you are in and around scenic Warren county and are looking for a fine dining eclectic restaurant, Mattars fits the bill. The decor is elegant, and the setting is romantic with mauve and pink colored walls adorned with original art work, plush dark blue carpeting, cushy patterned upholstered chairs, soft lighting, and tuxedo clad servers. If you arrive and are waiting for a table, snuggle up to the cozy bar and lounge for a pre-dinner cocktail. The good quality of the food and the high prices are not what you would expect from a restaurant out in the rural country side. The service is very attentive and efficient, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the dining experience. For dinner starters, try the Foie Gras Pain Perdu Apricot Chili Pepper Syrup; or the Lobster and Escargot with a Fennel Garlic Creme; or the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with Lemon Basil Beurre Blanc. For entrees, try; the Grilled Rack of Australian Lamb with Mint Pesto, Red Potatoes; or the Braised Venison with Mesa Dumplings, Yuka and Toasted Chili; or the Seared King Salmon with Sauteed Spinach, Artichokes and Carrots. For desserts, try: the Warm Pecan Gateau served with Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla; or the Creme Brulee with Seasonal Berries. Our viewers most negative comments about Mattars restaurant have been that on busy evenings, the bar noise interferes with the cozy dining experience and the prices are on the high side. |
