Restaurant Review

Lua has one of the most awesome waterfront views of the Manhattan skyline and is also one of the most trendy spots in New Jersey. It has a high energy atmosphere and a great place for singles, dates, or a night out with friends who enjoy good drinks and food in an attractive, upscale, and energetic atmosphere. The huge bar, packed with a good-looking, 25 - 45 + year olds is open to 3 am on weekends.

The decor is upscale and attractively done up with soft lighting with the dining space spread over two areas. One of the areas surrounds a beautiful orange and amber 360 degree oval bar where very attractive barmaids and hostesses eagerly serve the patrons. The other area is a bi-level dining room with tables and banquettes placed neatly into soft lit alcoves. The tall floor-to-ceiling windows provide spectacular views of the New York skyline, visible from most seats.

About the only downside is the high prices and the high noise level on saturday evenings making conversation difficult for most people except the very high energetic clubbers who thrive and rise above the roar of the crowd.

Chef Ricardo Cordona is a master at serving up well prepared Latin fusion dishes with fresh ingredients that are creative and attractively presented.

When available, the popular dinner starters are: the Latin Asian calamari, prepared crisp and tender with toasted cashews and served lightly drizzled with a honey-soy-ginger dressing and a organic sprout salad; and the Tamal de Marísco, lobster, shrimp, crabmeat with albariño avocado crema.

When available the popular dinner entrees are: Bronzini, with sea salt crusted, truffle mashed potatoes, grilled summer vegetables salsa; and the Grilled Tuna with asparagus, cashew and wasabi jasmine rice, papaya mango salsa, ginger glaze.

In the warmer summer months there is outside dining on their 80 seat outdoor café with an awesome view of the NYC skyline and the cool breezes off the water.

Located near the Hoboken North ferry slip, Lua offers convenient valet parking.
