Closed and Reopened as Trattoria FraroLa Piazza, located in the Mounts Corner Shopping Center on West Main St. in Freehold is popular with many senior citizens and families with kids who come here for good Italian food at an affordable price. La Piazza has a Brooklyn/Staten Island feel to it with the service staff using many slang expressions like "yous" and "you guys" while dining to background music by Frank Sinatra and other performers of that era. The restaurant is owned by brothers Mark and John Ackermann who acquired the restaurant in 2007 and made some changes, some for the better, some for the worse. For the better, there has been an improvement in service. For the worse, there has been a fall off in the quality of the food. While the menu hasn't undergone much change, the preparation of many of the selections have. The decor is attractive with a Northern Italian Ristorante feel to it. There are two dining areas that are elegantly done up with sand stone walls adorned with sculptured art work. Tables set with white linen and comfortable spaced apart. They are family and child friendly with a large children's menu. In the warmer months there is outdoor dining on the patio. La Piazza is a popular restaurant for getting together with groups of friends and families and reservations are a must, especially on weekends. |
