Restaurant Review
La Cashina Ristorante is a family owned casual dining restaurant serving traditional Italian food.
In the Marlboro area It's one of the best valued, moderately priced, casual Italian restaurants and a good neighborhood venue for families and friends to get together for an affordable dining experience.
The restaurant is also very popular with aged 55+ loyal repeat customers
While the restaurant strives to be in the category of a fine dining restaurant with its linen table settings & napkins and the wait staff dressed in black outfits, white shirts and black vests, it falls short of being in the fine dining category due its many low end features.
These low end features can be typically found in diners and include; the serving of butter in tin foil wrappers, low grade silver ware and china, the use of small desert wine glasses instead of the larger more upscale red & wine wine glasses, and the reluctance to offer an ice bucket for your BYOB white wine.
The food preparation is basic without an emphasis on locally sourced fresh ingredients.
On the plus side, considering the reasonable prices for meals, they serve a complimentary salad that includes spinach, arugula, romaine lettuce, and olives that can be found at restaurants with higher meal costs. Also, the bread is served warm and is of good quality.
The decor is dated and consists of dark wood furnishings, a wall adorned with a large mural, soft lighting, and tables spaced adequately apart for quiet conversation.
Pastas and desserts are sourced from off-premise purveyors.
The service is friendly and prompt, though there are lapses of enthusiasm and a decent knowledge of the menu and it's ingredients.
La Cashina has parking on the premises and is child friendly and with a kids menu.
They do not take reservations for parties less than six, though on a Saturday night up to 7 pm, you can expect no wait for parties of 2 -4.
