La Cashina Ristorante is a family owned casual dining restaurant serving traditional Italian dishes on a par with many other Italian restaurants in Central Jersey.
Overall, the level of food served when compared with other area Italian restaurants is mediocre. The preparation is basic and traditional and fails to distinguish itself from other area Italian restaurants who offer more complex and imaginative preparations, home made pastas and desserts.
On the plus side, considering the reasonable prices for meals, they serve a complimentary salad that includes spinach, arugula, romaine lettuce, and olives that can be found at restaurants with higher meal costs.
They appear to have a loyal following of repeat customers who enjoy traditional Italian food served in generous portions at a reasonable price.
The decor is dated and consists of dark wood furnishings, a wall adorned with a large mural, soft lighting, and tables spaced adequately apart for quiet conversation.
Pastas and desserts are sourced from off-premise purveyors.
The popular desserts are the Cannnoli and Tiramisu.
The service is friendly. However, the wait staff lacks enthusiasm and a decent knowledge of the menu and it's ingredients.
La Cashina has parking on the premises and is child friendly and with a kids menu.
They do not take reservations for parties less than six, though on a Saturday night up to 7 pm, you can expect no wait for parties of 2 -4.
* Definition: A casual dining restaurant differs from a fine dining restaurant or eatery.
A casual dining restaurant typically offers a menu with a lower grade of food ingredients, less care and creativity in the preparation of dishes, and high table turnover. They tend to be less expensive and offer larger portions to satisfy hunger. Casual dining restaurants are known to be popular with budget minded people.
A fine dining restaurant has many amenities not found in casual restaurants and features more complex food preparation, higher quality and fresher ingredients. Top rated fine dining restaurants usually strive to use direct local farm to table produce. They also have more expensive table settings with linen napkins and china. A top rated fine dining restaurant will also have a well trained, professional service staff. Fine dining restaurants tend to be more expensive and are popular for special occasions, power business meetings, and as a destination restaurant where diners are willing to travel further for a special dining experience.

While we do extensive research to ensure the most representative review of a restaurant, and because we rely on the subjective tastes and opinions of restaurant patrons and critics, similar to movie and book critics, our reviews should be taken as opinion and not fact.
