Restaurant Review |

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Northern New Jersey. The attractive, glitzy exterior is something you would expect to see in Disneyland, and the interior doesn't alter the theme with it's spacious dark-wood ambiance, rows of glowing exotic fish tanks, red and gold tapestries, lanterns, and tables set with white table cloths and blue-and-white china. The staff is dressed in tuxedos, and the patrons are dressed from upscale casual down to jeans. It's a fine dining experience for special occasions and is enjoyed by groups, families with children, couples, and business associates. Overall, considering the high quality of the food, the prices are reasonable, though by Chinese restaurant standards, you can expect to pay more than the local strip mall Chinese restaurant. They offer a well prepared menu using fresh ingredients with many specialties of authentic Hunan, Szechuan, and Mandarin dishes. When available, the popular starters are the: PU PU Platter for 2; and the less expensive Won Ton soup and Shrimp toast. When available, the popular specials are: The Grand Marnier Shrimp - Crispy jumbo shrimp sauteed with assorted fresh fruits in golden grand marnier sauce with cashew nuts; The Peking Duck - Turn-over roasted duck dish with the skin and meat carved and are served with scallions, Hoisin sauce and pancakes; and The Filet Mignon Chinese Style, topped with mushroom and onion, served with chef's special sauce. For dessert, try the Banana Flambe with ice cream Hunan Taste offers an upscale wine list, and has several private party rooms for groups of 10-20 people.
