The Green Door cafe, opened in 2009, is an American styled Cafe featuring healthy, organic, antibiotic and hormone free american food The ambiance is casual, contemporary, although it tends to be a little noisy during the busy weekend nights. Leon Bell who formerly owned a franchise restaurant has teamed up with co-owner and chef John Marsh who honed his cooking skills at such notable restaurants as Tavern on the Green and Arthur’s Landing. The selections are served up cafe style, featuring fresh salads, sandwiches, burgers and other basic food items, with several entree specials each evening. The food is well prepared, however the distinction that the Green Door Cafe has is that it only serves proteins which are organic, antibiotic and hormone-free, and produce that is also organic, and when in season, locally farmed. While the restaurant falls into the moderate price range, it should be noted that because of the higher cost of organic ingredients, you can expect some items to run 20-25% higher than other conventional, non-organic restaurants. When available, some of the popular entrees are the Organic Penne with shrimp, broccoli rabe, and roasted garlic; and the Pan Roasted Lock Duart Organic Salmon with white bean compote and sauteed spinach. They are child friendly and offer healthy kids favorites like burgers, homemade fries, homemade mac and cheese. Save room for dessert, they have a nice selection of homemade desserts. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They serve only healthy organic eggs with substantially more nutrients than conventional eggs.
