Flying Pumpkin Festival
The trebuchet launches a pumpkin about 500 feet across the fields at the 2008 Flying Pumpkin Festival
At Peaceful Valley Orchards, 150 Pittstown Road, Pittstown, NJ October 17, 2009 from 10am-4pm Pumpkin launching and fun family activities will take center stage at the Flying Pumpkin Festival fundraiser. Representatives from NJ Hurl will use their medieval war machines, the torsion catapult and trebuchet, to send pumpkin ammunition hurling about 500 feet across the fields. Guests can also build their own cars out of ears of corn and race them. Other activities will include a cake walk, pumpkin picking, a miniature pumpkin launching challenge, face painting, balloon animals, a petting zoo, a guess-how-many booth, family races, and live music. Food will be available. The festival is being organized for the benefit of America?s Grow-A-Row (www.americasgrowarow.org), an organization that provides fresh produce to feed the hungry through a volunteer effort of growing, gleaning, picking, and delivering.
