Restaurant Review

Located on the first floor of the Inn on Main, the Firefly American Bistro is one of Manasquan's top fine dining restaurants.

Owner's are mother and daughter, Malissa and Lori  Rathgeber, who have teamed up to build a successful contemporary American restaurant serving a creative eclectic menu.

The reason to come to the Firefly is for the food. Executive Chef Lou Smith is adept at creating dishes using local farm fresh ingredients.

The dining experience starts off on a positive note with being served their special pretzel bread with a raspberry Dijon dipping sauce, and continues on with their selection of eclectic inventive dishes

The deserts are homemade on the premises. They are also flexible in attempting to accommodate special requests such as gluten free and vegetarian dishes when requested.

The Main dining room offers seating for up to 115 diners in an attractive modern decor with tiled floors, artfully painted walls, a cozy fireplace and a fountain. The lighting is subdued with tables set with white linens.

During the busy times the main dining room can get loud. For a quieter dining experience, request seating in the Monet Dining Room, or in the warmer weather, a table outside in the atrium.

For a romantic setting, ask to be seated by fireplace, at a table near the Firefly Fountain, or in a corner table for two.

They have a "whimsical tea room" that can be used for meetings, and afternoon teas with desserts.

They are kid friendly with a children menu.

The Firefly Bistro is open Thanksgiving Day and Easter Sunday.

Closed on Mondays.
