Dream Cuisine Cafe, a very small 40 seat French BYOB Bistro located in the Tuscany Marketplace shopping center in the shadows of the much larger, franchised Toscana Italian restaurant, has become popular as a neighborhood gem for diners looking for top draw food with a relaxed, South of France style bistro ambiance.
Co-owner and chef Vincent Fanari, a native of Nice, France, received his culinary education in southern France where he also began to hone his skills, and later on to London, New England, and finally in Philadelphia at the Plough & The Stars before opening this restaurant.
Chef Fanari has put together a very creative French and Mediterranean influenced menu using imported cheeses, fresh wild fish, and free-range meats. Fresh farm to table produce and breads are brought in daily. The pastas and desserts are made on the premises.
Many of the dishes have a strong Provencal influence with tomatoes and capers featured in the preparation.
The menu is offered in both al a carte and prix fixe pricing. Prix fixe includes a salad, choice of soup or appetizer, an entree, and dessert is a very good value.
Save room for the home made desserts, chef's famous Tarte Tartin is sumptuous.
The ambiance is reminiscent of a French Provencal cafe with a bright fluorescent lit open kitchen, vivid yellow and blue walls, and burgundy tablecloths and banquettes.
While the seating is spaced apart for good conversation, on busy weekends nights the noise level can rise to a high level.
The Dream Cuisine Cafe is one of the few "green" restaurants in the Cherry Hill area.
The service is friendly and attentive, though it tends to take time between courses
Be prepared to spend some time there, at least 2 hours, since the food is made to order and takes a little longer to prepare. You can also expect some moderate gaps between courses.
On Friday evenings the Dream Cuisine Cafe has quiet background acoustic guitar music.
In the warmer summer months there is limited outdoor patio dining.
