Co-owner and chef Vincent Fanari, a native of Nice, France, received his culinary education in southern France where he also began to hone his skills, and later on to London, New England, and finally in Philadelphia at the Plough & The Stars before opening this restaurant.
The ambiance is reminiscent of a French Provencal cafe with a bright fluorescent lit open kitchen, vivid yellow and blue walls, and burgundy tablecloths and banquettes. While the seating is spaced apart for good conversation, on busy weekends nights the noise level can rise to a high level.
The Dream Cuisine Cafe is one of the few "green" restaurants in the Cherry Hill area. Chef Fanari has put together a very creative French and Mediterranean influenced menu using imported cheeses, fresh wild fish, and free-range meats. Fresh farm to table produce and breads are brought in daily. The pastas and desserts are made on the premises.
Be prepared to spend some time there, at least 2 hours, since the food is made to order and takes a little longer to prepare. Yoy can also expect some moderate gaps between courses.
Many of the dishes have a strong Provencal influence with tomatoes and capers featured in the preparation.
The menu is offered in both al a carte and prix fixe pricing. Prixe fix includes a salad, choice of soup or appetizer, an entree, and dessert is a very good value.
When available, some of the popular appetizers are: Raclette and Prosciutto Melt; and the Dream Ratatouille, a classic Provencal stew of eggplant, zucchini, onions, tomatoes, peppers, garlic, and basil.
When available, the popular entrees are:The grilled Free Range Lamb Chops in a Provencal sauce and black olive nicosse: and The Ricotta Salata Fettuccine made with homemade pasta, zucchini, roasted pepper Provencal, mushrooms, topped with ricotta salata.
Save room for the home made desserts, chef's famous Tarte Tartin is sumptuous.
The service is friendly and attentive. On Friday evenings the Dream Cuisine Cafe has quiet background acoustic guitar music.
In the warmer summer months there is limited outdoor patio dining.
