Restaurant Review

Will reopen on December 11, 2011 under the direction of owner Zod Arifai and chef/owner of Blu and Next Door, both in Montclair.

David Viana, previously sous chef at David Drake in Rahway, Due Terre in Bernardsville, and Uproot in Warren, will be the chef de cuisine at Daryl Wine Bar and Restaurant.

The decor is very attractive with contemporary high ceilings, dark wooden floors, oversized doors, the crystal quartz bar. and a beautifully coordinated color arrangement of browns, tans, yellows, red and blues, and high backed soft chairs that are extremely comfortable.

The dining area at Daryl Wine Bar and Restaurant is trendy and sophisticated, with glass tables and white leather high back chairs that are comfortably spaced apart.

This is an ideal restaurant for the new generation of upscale 25-50 aged fine dining enthusiasts who seek out exceptional food with fresh sustainable, organic or bio dynamic ingredients in a trendy setting.

As the restaurant name implies, Daryls Wine Bar and Restaurant has wine as a significant element of the dining experience. There are 500 wines available, and 65 by the glass. Many of the selections are either sustainable or organic produced wines. Similar to the variety of food portions, the wine can be served in sipping's of two ounces, four ounces and six ounces. Looking for a for a late-night drink spot, the bar stays open to 2 a.m. on Saturdays, 11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 p.m. Sundays.

The wait staff Daryl wine bar is young, 20 something, and well trained to provide friendly, knowledgeable, and anticipatory service.

Children are not recommended.

Be forewarned; do not use the valet parking at the Heldrich Hotel, they are very pricey. Suggest parking across the street in the parking garage at a fraction of the cost of the hotel parking.
