Restaurant Review |

This traditional Italian restaurant is located along Victorian Cape May's charming pedestrian shopping area, the Washington Mall. In the waiting area, worn-out window-gazers mix with fresh-from-the-B&B reservation holders during summer. The recently remodeled downstairs area and overflow upstairs room often allows the restaurant to accommodate walk-ins, but call ahead for bigger parties or risk having a 30-minute wait. The restaurant atmosphere is casual, and the tables are set with linens and candles. Owner-chef Guy Portewig prepares generous portions of traditional Italian dishes with attention to vine-ripened locally grown produce and fresh seafood. Recommended favorite entrees include; Chef's Choice Veal with Twin medallions of top round veal; Shrimp Oreganata, baked shrimp with white wine and oreganata topping. Serviced with linguine or potatoes; Veal Piccata, pan-sauteed breaded veal with butter, white wine, and fresh lemon juice, and spaghetti; and Spaghetti Carbonara, Pan-sauteed pasta with prosciutto ham, egg, and parmesan cheese. The restaurant is BYOB and serves wine from the local Cape May Winery. |
