Restaurant Review

The Cape May Fish Market is a great place for visitors to the Washington Street Mall looking for a convenient place to have good seafood for lunch or dinner in a setting without all the tourist frills.

The decor is modern and clean with walls adorned with old photographs of concrete ships built near the end of the war that can be found off the coast of Cape May Point, and high-backed dark wooden booths with candle lighting.

During the warmer months there is outside ding on the Washington Street pedestrian Mall. If you are one of the many summer vacationers or day trippers, ask for outside seating and enjoy the added attraction of people watching.

The wait staff are dressed in T-shirts and black pants or shorts.

The have a blackboard menu posted outside that list the daily specials. Inside they have two refrigerated cases with seafood specials that are available raw or cooked for takeout.

The Cape May Fish Market does a good job of sticking to the basics in sea food preparation and offers choices of cooking styles; Grilled, deep-fried, or broiled. They serve simply prepared dishes without the more complex sauces and preparations, that can overwhelm the taste of fresh seafood.

The portions are large, and diners are likely to ask for a "doggie bag" to finish their meal.

If you come for dinner and there is a line, ask to have your name placed on the waiting list and have a walk around the mall until your table is ready.

The Cape May Fish Market is child friendly and offers a kids menu.

Open daily from 11am-10pm; Off season from Noon to 8pm

Cape May Fish Market does not take reservations.
