New Jersey Leisure guide is the largest single source of complete and impartial NJ restaurant reviews. Unlike other sources that review restaurants on the basis of a single visit by a restaurant critic, or on the basis of restaurant diners, our restaurant ratings and reviews take into account a wider audience and are the result of a compilation of many sources, including restaurant critics and diners who have eaten there. Restaurant Review |

This new Freehold BYOB opened in May, 2009 and is off to a good start. The reason you come to this restaurant is for their pizza, homemade pasta, and bread, and for good value at a reasonable price. This casual dining restaurant is located in a Main Street storefront with both front and rear access from the town parking lot. The restaurant interior is attractive with 12 tables seating 50 people. The co-owners, Angelo Maglione and his daughter Stephanie Oriolo, have over 20 years experience in the restaurant business and were the former owners of the popular Il Piccolo Forno restaurant in West End, NJ. Angelo Maglione can be seen on center stage at the back of the restaurant making home made bread and pizza in his wood fired brick oven, and occasionally taking a break to come to the microphone to sing Italian songs. Their Margherita pizza crust is excellent and authentic--- light, crispy, chewy, and slightly charred. However, they fall short in being considered in the company of the "best pizza" in New Jersey by not using fresh buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil. They offer well prepared specials of the day, however the standard menu offers a good selection of home made pasta dishes including; the Cavatelli with Shrimp & Broccoli, the Gnocchi Al Pesto Con Funghi, Ravioli All' Aragosta, Fettuccine Con Polpette & Piselli and the Lasagna Di Virginia. The service at Angelos Cafe and Bistro is attentive and they are kid friendly, offering a child's menu. |
