Restaurant Review

This downtown, BYOB Italian restaurant is a real Mediterranean dining experience

The location is situated in a renovated bank with the decor having a romantic, Mediterranean atmosphere. As you enter you will view a large fountain, marbled columns, and attractive floral arrangements. There are three dining rooms on the main level, all very different. The main dining room is the most attractive with it's high ceilings and columns, while the dining room in the center is less crowded, and the rear dining room is smaller and more intimate.

Executive Chef Carlos Columbo, features many creative Northern Italian dishes, and on occasion introduces some other Mediterranean selections to the menu with equally excellent preparation and presentation.

For appetizers, the recommendations are; Crepes Fiorentina rolls of pancakes wrapped around spinach and ricotta, over a dripping of Marscapone sauce; the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, flaky and moist with caramelized endive and over red pepper culis; and the Grilled calamari with Marinara, cilantro, and jalapeno aoili.

For the entrees, the recommendations are; The Horseradish Encrusted Atlantic Salmon over risotto with shiitake mushrooms, sweet peas, with a roasted red pepper sauce; The Tournedos of Beef, Twin petit filet mignon, gorgonzola, mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and sauce au poivre; and The Penne Ciprian with Sauteed shrimp, grilled chicken, shiitake mushrooms, asparagus and sun dried tomatoes in thyme pink sauce.

The desserts at Acquaviva delle fonti are well done and prepared on site. The recommendations are; Italian Ricotta Cheesecake baked with Galliano liqueur and a lemon zabaglione with a pine-nut tart; and the Crepes Suzette crepes with warm orange Grand Marnier sauce over mixed, fresh fruit.

The service staff is attentive, friendly, and many are European.

Not recommended for kids.
