Restaurant Review

This new lounge restaurant is a complement to the New Brunswick college scene and with the younger corporate pharmaceutical workers who have made New Brunswick their home.

Located where the North Star Restaurant used to be, Verdigre has a a lively club scene and serves innovative New American-Mediterranean fare. The lounge also has a bar menu for late night snacks.

However, preparation of dishes is apt to be inconsistent, although if you hit it right, it can be mouth watering.

Verdigre is a New Brunswick restaurant with New York style and prices.

The interior is attractive with a modern, contemporary look, done up with soft earth toned walls, soft lighting, and black colored tables and chairs.

As you settle into your seat, you are presented with a menu and a tasty dish of olives in oil, and bread.

The starter favorites are; the very tasty Caesar salad, with homemade croutons, marinated white anchovies, and shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano; the Fried calamari with spicy smoked paprika aioli; the Clams and mussels piperade with slices of different-colored peppers, chorizo, and onions.

The dinner entree favorites are; Zarzuela served as Red Snapper and calamari and mussels over saffron Coucous. The duck breast with a black currant-port glaze and a sweet corn flan;the brick-pressed chicken breast served with crisp polenta fries and spinach with raisins and pine nuts: and the Pomegranate rack of lamb cut into four chops with merguez hot sausage, broccoli rabe, and cucumber yogurt flavored with harissa.

The dessert favorites are: the White and Dark chocolate tower semifreddo; and the apple crostata, a rustic apple tart topped with raisins, cinnamon streusel, and gelato.

The service at Verdigre restaurant is very friendly and attentive.

Not recommended for children.
