4th Annual Teaneck International Film Festival
by Ellen Rand
(Teaneck, NJ)
The Teaneck International Film Festival will once again present a collection of compelling independent films -- narrative features and documentaries -- from a variety of cultures. We offer a weekend of great entertainment at an affordable price. Dates are Nov. 20-22, 2009. Films will be shown at several venues in Teaneck; the full program will be announced in Fall 2009. There'll be special events, festive gatherings and notable guests.
In past years, we've shown many NJ film premieres and welcomed renowned filmmaker John Sayles as well as talented (and award-winning) young filmmakers, including Margaret Brown, Sean Baker and Joe Maggio. We've also had special "curated" programs, such as the screening of the original "Winslow Boy," with actor Philip Bosco participating in an audience discussion. We also aim to be family-friendly.
The festival is a project of the Puffin Foundation, a nonprofit organization that has supported the arts for more than 20 years. It is a grass-roots-run event whose mission is to bring the community together through the art of film. Film sponsors this year so far include Bergen County Links, Classic Residence by Hyatt, Garden State Equality and the South Asian Independent Cine Fest.
If you're tired of the battling robots, superheroes and super-gross humor in films playing at the multiplexes, come to the Teaneck Intl. Film Festival for great storytelling and outstanding filmmaking. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll have a great time!
