Annual Slavonic Festival to be held Feb 6th, 2010
Tired of the cold? Tired of the snow? Tired of the same old meatloaf? Well, on Saturday, February 6th, from 12 noon until closing, come to Saint Thomas Church, located at 1407 St. George Avenue in Rahway. The church will be celebrating their 23rd Annual Slavonic Festival. Admission is free and there is something for everyone to do.
The parish center is transformed into a dining hall and the food that is served is very good. Among the favorite dishes being served, there will be pierogi’s, holubki, chicken paprikash, Hungarian goulash, and kielbasa. Picnic food, such as hot dogs, hamburgers, and potato pancakes are also available at the picnic window. Meals are served all day for a very reasonable price along with coffee, tea, soda, wine and beer. Dessert is available in the form of palachinka, with various fruit fillings and funnel cakes.
There will be live music at dinner, provided by In Check, a local band of Eastern European decent. Spin the wheels and try your luck at the games of chance. On the church property, there will also be a Craft Fair, which will feature over 20 dealers of new and handcrafted items. Take out food will also be available. There will also be several church tours throughout the day. Vigil Liturgy will be celebrated by Father Michael Mondik, the pastor of St. Thomas, at 5:30 PM. All are invited. For information, please call the church office at 732-382-5300.
